Job Details

Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC is looking for a Kitchen Porter.

Responsible for maintaining cleanliness, order, and basic food preparation support. Will assist chefs by washing dishes, equipment, and utensils, as well as cleaning work areas, floors, and other surfaces. Additionally, you may help with basic food preparation like peeling vegetables or chopping ingredients, and manage inventory and stock.

Key Responsibilities:

Washing Dishes and Equipment: Cleaning and sanitizing cookware, cutlery, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
Cleaning Work Areas: Maintaining cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, walls, and other areas within the kitchen.

Food Preparation Support: Assisting chefs with basic tasks like peeling vegetables, chopping ingredients, and other food preparation tasks.

Stock Management: Unloading deliveries, organizing storage areas, and managing inventory.

Other Tasks: Emptying bins, cleaning spills, and performing other duties as assigned to ensure the kitchen runs efficiently.

Following Regulations: Adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations.

Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team .

Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
Flexible to work schedules to include weekends/late evenings/holidays

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to be standing/mobile/stationary for at least 7 hours a day, 35 hours a week.
Periodically fast paced strides are required to go from one part of property to other.
Must regularly lift/carry/move 60 pounds of force.
Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb are required.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($16.50 - $17.50)
