Also as a HEAD BARTENDER your expectations are;

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead bar team, providing guidance, training, and fostering a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Manage the bar's operations, including setup, inventory control, and equipment maintenance.
  • Oversee guest interactions, ensuring exceptional service and addressing any concerns.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team for seamless communication and guest satisfaction.
  • Assist in training bar staff in drink recipes, steps of service, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar area, adhering to hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • Participate regularly in bar R&D to ideate new drink ideas/recipes.
  • Work with GM in monitoring inventory levels; place orders and manage costs to achieve financial objectives.
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, and walk-in guests to optimize seating capacity and minimize wait times when necessary;
  • Train and mentor FoH staff, promoting service standards and beverage knowledge;
  • Oversee service, including execution of opening/closing checklists.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of previous experience as a bartender, bar captain or senior bartending role in a high-end bar or hospitality setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of mixology, cocktails, spirits, beers, and wines, with a creative flair.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a track record of developing and mentoring staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a charismatic and engaging personality.
  • Ability to multitask and excel in a fast-paced bar environment.
  • Expert knowledge with POS systems, cash handling, and inventory management.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • In-depth understanding of alcohol service regulations and responsible beverage practices.
  • Positive attitude and passion for creating unforgettable guest experiences.
  • TIPS certification a plus, but not required

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($11.00 - $14.00) plus tips

Nowon, founded by Chef Jae Lee in 2019 and named after his hometown in Seoul, South Korea, is a vibrant Korean-American gastropub with two locations in New York City—the flagship in the East Village and a second outpost in Bushwick.

Building on the success of its East Village location, Nowon expanded to Bushwick, Brooklyn in July 2023, where Chef Jae introduced signature Korean-inspired wood-fired pizzas.
