Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch is a renowned farm-to-table restaurant nestled in the heart of Napa Valley. We pride ourselves on serving fresh, sustainable dishes made with ingredients grown on our estate. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional service while creating a warm and welcoming environment for our guests. We are looking for passionate individuals to join our team and help elevate the guest experience at our restaurant and wine bar.

We are seeking an experienced Host to join our team. As a Host at Farmstead, you’ll be the first face our guests see as they enter the restaurant. Your role is essential in setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. You’ll greet and seat guests, manage reservations, and assist with general front-of-house operations. Ideal candidates will have a positive, outgoing personality and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival and departure, ensuring they feel welcomed
  • Assess guests' needs while always maintaining a professional and courteous attitude, especially when confronted with difficult guests
  • Manage a challenging reservation book that consists of both reservations and a high volume of walk-in traffic
  • Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas, ensuring an efficient flow of seating
  • Provide guests with menus and inform patrons of establishment specialties and features
  • Answer telephone calls, respond to inquiries, or transfer calls to the appropriate staff
  • Maintain communication with kitchen staff, management, and servers to ensure that dining details are handled smoothly and customers’ concerns are addressed promptly
  • Inspect dining and serving areas regularly to ensure cleanliness and proper setup
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and organized front-of-house area

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of Host experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment 
  • Proficiency in the use and floor plan setup of the OpenTable reservation system
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a welcoming and professional manner
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
  • Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality service
  • ABS certification required

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with unexpected situations
  • Must be able to lift, balance, and carry plates of food
  • Must be able to lift cases of wine on a daily basis
  • Must be able to use both hands to handle, grasp, move and control objects, tools and equipment operations
  • Must be able to bend or twist body

Compensation and Benefits

  • Part-time hourly position
  • The Company reasonably expects to pay in the range of 16.50 - $20.00 per hour, plus tips for this position. Of course, this is depending on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, and business or organizational needs. This wage range may be modified in the future.
