Job Details

Title: Maintenance & Facilities Lead 

Location : The Racquet Lounge in Southampton

Reports to: Jemma, Club Manager 

Rate: Full time 40hours/week, $24/hour - May 14th to September 1st.

 

Please note: Must live within a suitable distance to Southampton as accommodation is not provided. The commute from the city is a 4hour drive and is not feasible.
This role also includes an early start to the day. You would be expected to begin your shift at 6am - 7am.


Job Summary:

We are looking for a Maintenance and Facilities Lead with expertise in the care and maintenance of both clay and hard courts. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Tennis, Padel, and Pickleball court maintenance, including the upkeep of playing surfaces, debris removal, and ensuring that all court equipment remains in top condition. This role involves physical labor, heavy lifting, and a sharp attention to detail to maintain the highest standards for our courts and facilities. In addition to court maintenance, you will be responsible for general upkeep of other areas and equipment across the property.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Court Maintenance & Upkeep:

    • Regularly maintain clay courts, including tasks such as rolling, brushing, and watering to maintain the correct surface conditions.

    • Remove debris from the courts and surrounding areas regularly to maintain a clean and safe environment. 

    • Regularly inspect courts for wear and tear, ensuring that net posts, fencing, and surface markers are properly positioned and in good working condition.

    • Assist court attendants when needed.

  • Equipment Maintenance:

    • Ensure that all equipment, such as rollers, brushes, and vacuums, is properly maintained and in good working order.

    • Maintain inventory of tools, machinery, and supplies related to court maintenance and ensure that they are always ready for use.

  • Facility Maintenance:

    • Perform general maintenance tasks throughout the club, such as minor plumbing, electrical repairs, and painting.

    • Assist in maintaining other areas of the club, including clubhouses, outdoor spaces, and walkways, ensuring a pristine, member-ready appearance.

    • Assist with moving furniture for events.

  • Safety & Quality Control:

    • Conduct regular safety checks on the courts and facilities, ensuring that all maintenance is performed to the highest safety standards.

    • Proactively identify any hazards or issues and address them promptly to ensure the club is always in top condition for members.

    • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections performed on the courts and equipment.



Ideal Qualities

  • Familiarity with the specific needs of clay courts, such as rolling, watering, and surface adjustments.

  • Previous experience in general facilities maintenance (painting, minor repairs, plumbing) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of racquet court maintenance techniques and equipment.

  • Strong physical stamina to perform routine maintenance and heavy lifting, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with members and team members.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to ensure proper court conditions.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude toward preventing issues before they arise.
