Director of Catering & Sales
Boutique Catering Agency | East Village, NYC
Salary: $120,000 – $130,000 annually (based on experience)
Estimated Total Compensation: $150,000 – $160,000+ (salary + commissions, excluding bonuses)
About the Role:
A dynamic, boutique catering agency based in the East Village is seeking an experienced Director of Catering & Sales to lead its growing team. This role is responsible for driving sales across drop-off catering, full-service events, and new outbound business, while managing client relationships and internal communications with kitchen and operations teams.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, proactive leader with a passion for hospitality, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a proven track record of exceeding sales goals in the catering or events industry.
You will work closely with ownership and key leadership, helping to shape and grow the next chapter of an exciting, creative catering company.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Client Relations
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals
- Cultivate new business through outbound sales efforts (calls, tastings, in-person meetings, and outreach)
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, planners, and venue partners
- Oversee all inbound catering inquiries, ensuring timely proposals and top-tier client service
- Lead team meetings, track KPIs, and prepare regular sales reporting for ownership
- Oversee and contribute to marketing initiatives, including social media content and newsletters
Event & Drop-Off Catering Management
- Manage client communications from inquiry to event execution
- Oversee proposals, contracts, timelines, and coordination with internal operations and culinary teams
- Ensure pricing accuracy, profitability, and adherence to company standards
- Attend site visits, tastings, and events as needed, maintaining a hands-on approach
- Consistently deliver exceptional experiences for clients and guests
Team Leadership & Development
- Hire, mentor, and manage the sales and administrative team
- Foster a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and accountability
- Ensure interdepartmental alignment between sales, kitchen, and operations
- Identify opportunities for team training, growth, and development
Compensation Structure:
- Base Salary: $120,000 – $130,000 annually (based on experience)
- Commission:
- 0.4% commission on inbound drop-off catering F&B sales
- 1% commission on inbound full-service events F&B sales
- 3% commission on outbound business personally generated
- Annual Bonus:
- $5,000 bonus for exceeding annual sales budget by 2–5%
- $7,000 bonus for exceeding annual sales budget by 5%+
Expected total compensation, based on meeting sales goals and generating outbound business, is estimated at $150,000 – $160,000 annually.

What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of senior-level catering or event sales experience
- Proven success with high-volume, high-touch catering clients
- Strong leadership and management experience
- Expertise in catering operations, event logistics, and service styles
- Strategic thinker with strong sales acumen and financial literacy
- Excellent client relationship skills and high emotional intelligence
- Knowledgeable and passionate about diverse food and beverage offerings
- Bachelor's degree preferred
