Job Details

Le Chêne is seeking a highly skilled and driven Head Pastry Chef to join this first restaurant project in New York City. The food at Le Chêne will be a blend of French classics executed with a modern approach. This position is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Pastry Chef to be part of an exciting restaurant opening. The goal is to build a team that strives to learn together, push each other to be better and have fun while doing it! 

As a Pastry Chef, you will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, and service. You will work with ingredients carefully sourced and be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency and excellence on your station. Extensive French pastry knowledge and a passion for French classics are a must. The pastry program will be a collaboration between the Pastry Chef and Chef de Cuisine Alexia Duchêne. 

This is a full time position from Tuesday to Saturday (dinner service only), the restaurant will operate the first months five days a week and extend to more operating days later in the year.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in fine dining or high-end restaurant kitchens
  • Deep knowledge in French pastry 
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Passion for French cuisine 
  • Food safety knowledge 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Good knife skills 
  • Ability to be part of daily stock inventory and ordering precisely for the next day 
  • Follow company policies and guidelines 
  • Write all recipes and instructions to train other team members 
  • Ability to work independently while prepping or as a team during service 
  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail
  • Being a team player 

Physical requirement:

  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Lifting and carrying occasionally up to 50 lb

Compensation Details
