Maritime Boat Club
Helmed by Chef Felix Santos (Quince, Atelier Crenn, Sorrel), Maritime Boat Club is an independently run restaurant inside of the Palihotel and will showcase a market-driven menu of locally sourced seafood and seasonal produce, highlighting all the best that the Greater Bay Area and Pacific coastline has to offer. Our price point will allow guests to be able to splurge, or have a casual cost-friendly dinner- with all the same great hospitality that Maritime has become known for. With a focus on quality and sustainability, the menu will change frequently, offering a dynamic and refined dining experience.
The Wine Director position at Maritime Boat Club will be solely focused on all things wine. Wine is intended to be a very major part of the Bar Maritime & Maritime Boat Club experience. We will look to provide some of the best pricing in San Francisco on our entry level bottles and our high end Burgundy. The list will be focused on low intervention wines that are influenced by a Maritime climate. We will feature top hospitality and technical touches combined with a laid back attitude and environment.
The Wine Director is a supervisor position with no management level duties required.
Work life balance is super important to us here. We do not want any hourly employees working more than 8 hours on the regular. We want to keep employees refreshed and excited to tackle the work when they are here. The position is compensated with a higher hourly, tips from the tip pool which are based on points and wine sales commissions, and a performance bonus structure.
The Wine Director will purchase all the wine for Maritime Boat Club and Bar Maritime. Other duties include training the FOH staff on all things wine; service, education, pairings, creating quizzes and engagement for the service staff to stay well versed on the BTG selections. Overseeing and supervising the Sommelier team. Meeting with vendors to taste wines for the restaurant. Floor service will consist primarily of engaging with guests about wine and following through with the service of both purchased wine and corkage. The Wine director will be responsible for monthly inventory, wine list upkeep. The Wine Director will also work closely with our chef to set up pairings for pre-fix dinners and events.
