About The Role:
The Fishmonger is responsible for providing guests with high-quality seafood products and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the seafood department. Your role involves handling, preparing, and presenting seafood items, as well as offering expert assistance to customers.
What You Will Do
- Receive, inspect, and prepare a variety of seafood products, including fish, shellfish, and other seafood items.
- Ensure proper handling, filleting, and portioning of seafood according to established standards.
- Provide knowledgeable and friendly assistance to guests in selecting seafood products.
- Offer recommendations, cooking tips, and information about seafood varieties.
- Maintain an attractive and well-organized seafood display, ensuring proper labeling and pricing.
- Regularly rotate and restock seafood products to promote freshness.
- Conduct regular quality checks on seafood items, removing products that do not meet quality standards.
- Monitor and record temperature levels of seafood display cases.
- Assist in managing inventory levels for the seafood department, communicating with management about stock levels, and placing orders as needed.
- Implement first-in, first-out (FIFO) practices to manage inventory effectively.
- Keep the seafood department clean and well-maintained, including work surfaces, display cases, and equipment.
- Follow proper sanitation and hygiene practices.
- Minimize waste by closely monitoring product expiration dates and implementing strategies to reduce spoilage.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and implement waste reduction initiatives.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and food handling guidelines specific to seafood.
- Stay informed about recalls and safety alerts related to seafood products.
- Perform all other tasks as duties as assigned and/or per business need.
About You:
- 1+ years of prior seafood experience required.
- Knowledge of different seafood varieties, preparation methods, and cooking techniques.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of varying shifts such as days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand for prolong periods of time.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the property. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
- Climbing steps regularly.
Compensation range: $21– $25 Hourly
