About Us:

La Farine Pâtisserie et Café, a fresh presence on the Upper West Side, is expanding into evenings with a refined French wine bar concept. Our evening menu features a curated selection of savory dishes, raw preparations, seasonal vegetable and fruit plates, house-made breads and spreads, artisanal cheese boards, and plated classic French desserts. We’re seeking a skilled and detail-driven Senior Cook / Lead Cook to take the lead in our evening kitchen service.

Position Overview:

This role is ideal for a culinary professional with a passion for precision, plating, and seasonal ingredients. The Senior Cook / Lead Cook will be responsible for executing our evening menu to the highest standards of flavor, presentation, and efficiency. This is a hands-on position requiring leadership, organization, and a strong sense of quality control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead evening kitchen service and execute a variety of menu items, including savory dishes, raw fish, cheese boards, spreads, seasonal vegetables/fruits, and plated French desserts.
  • Ensure each dish is prepared with impeccable taste, timing, and presentation.
  • Prepare ingredients, manage mise en place, and oversee daily prep tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen station.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management.
  • Uphold all food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to supporting kitchen staff during service.
  • Collaborate with management on seasonal updates to the menu and service flow.

Skills & Requirements

  • Food Protection Certificate required before employment begins.
  • Proven experience working in fast-paced, high-quality kitchens.
  • Strong eye for plating and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to work independently and as a team leader.
  • Culinary degree or formal training preferred but not required.
  • Physical stamina to perform during long shifts, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Schedule:

  • 5 evening shifts per week
  • Typical hours: 2:00–4:00 PM start to 10:00 PM–12:00 AM end, depending on day and service flow
  • Must be available on weekends and holidays as needed

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $22–$24/hour, based on experience and skill level
