Job Details

At Rich Table, we’re driven by culinary creativity and a deep commitment to sourcing ingredients from the best local purveyors. Since opening in 2012, we’ve become known for our warm, personable service and unforgettable guest experiences. We pride ourselves on a positive, team-oriented atmosphere where guest relations are at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for a passionate, experienced Chef de Cuisine to lead our kitchen team and help elevate our restaurant’s standards of excellence.

Position Summary:
As Chef de Cuisine, you will manage the day-to-day operations of our kitchen, leading a team of 10+ kitchen staff. Your role will be key in maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and cleanliness while ensuring a positive, professional atmosphere. You’ll collaborate with the Executive Chef to ensure the restaurant’s culinary vision is consistently executed with attention to detail and a focus on guest satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Kitchen Operations: Oversee all kitchen functions, including ordering, scheduling, menu preparation, costing, and maintaining cleanliness.

  • Menu Development: Create new seasonal menu items weekly, organizing tastings for approval before dishes are added to the menu. Ensure all menu items are photographed, documented in Evernote, and accompanied by an allergy matrix.

  • Nutrition & Sanitation Standards: Enforce health, safety, and sanitation standards across the kitchen. Lead regular staff training on kitchen equipment and safety.

  • Team Leadership: Foster a cooperative and positive work environment, leading by example with professionalism, respect, and patience. Maintain a smooth, calm service environment.

  • Vendor Relations: Build and maintain relationships with local vendors and farmers. Oversee the logistics of farmers market visits and ensure efficient use of all ingredients.

  • Inventory Management: Supervise food inventory, minimizing waste and ensuring proper storage and organization of ingredients.

  • Staffing: Participate in hiring, training, and evaluating kitchen staff. Communicate staffing needs to upper management and Human Resources.

  • Communication: Maintain clear and concise calendars for staff schedules and any operational updates. Ensure all team members are informed and prepared.

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure kitchen equipment is in good working order and coordinate repairs as needed. Stay updated on state and federal laws regarding food safety, employee health, and safety protocols (including Cal O.S.H.A. guidelines).

  • Cross-Department Support: Work closely with the Front of House team to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a Michelin-starred kitchen or high-end culinary environment.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a diverse team.

  • Excellent knowledge of food safety regulations, nutrition standards, and sanitation practices.

  • Proficient in inventory management and cost control.

  • Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative attitude.

  • Must be Food Handler Certified through the Health Department.

  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and foster a positive, productive work environment.

Why Join Us?
At Rich Table, we value creativity, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence. If you’re passionate about food and service, and ready to lead a talented kitchen team, we’d love to meet you. We are an equal opportunity employer and believe in fostering a diverse, inclusive workplace.
