Ramro (@ramronyc) is a Filipino-Nepali restaurant that opened in December 2023. The team previously operated a fast casual restaurant called FoodStruck that was a staple in the neighborhood but had to unfortunately close down due to COVID.
Ramro now is a fine dining concept with an open kitchen that serves up an seasonal focused tasting menu as well as a standard a la carte menu. Since our opening, we have been featured in a number of publications such as GrubStreet, Infatuation, and Eater and have built up a loyal customer base. We are now in search of Sous Chef looking to learn and grow with us. Our ideal candidate is someone highly interested in cooking, career-focused, and has a positive and professional attitude.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Chef to prepare ingredients and set up station for service
- Demonstrate cooking techniques in front of the guests in the open kitchen
- Describe dishes and answer any guest questions and be able to interact with guests at counter
- Keep the kitchen space clean and organized before, during, and after service
- Work closely and collaboratively with the management and the FOH team
- Work with the head chef to properly clean and close after service
Minimum qualifications
- Must have Food Handlers permit or be willing to get one asap!
- A working understanding of sanitation codes and DOH regulations
- At least 2 years of experience in an upscale or fine dining kitchen.
- A passion for culinary arts and a keen eye for detail.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, events and holidays as required.
- Proficient knife skills
- Experience breaking down protein (such as fish, duck)
- Basic familiarity with kitchen equipment, processes, and health and safety guidelines
- Highly motivated, excited about working with a duality of menu concepts; willing to explore, innovate, and learn new skills
- Strong commitment to excellence, especially when no one is looking
- Comfortable using Google docs/sheets/etc...
- Sense of urgency
- Punctual
- Humble, collaborative, willing to take and give feedback
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to communicate clearly
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working with a tasting menu concept
- Deep knowledge about Nepali and / or Filipino cuisines

Compensation
Pay: $21-24/hr with room for growth
