Brick & Mortar is a new dining destination opening in Lincoln Park in Summer 2025, created by Chef John Asbaty (RH Hospitality, Hogsalt, Alinea, Trio) and restaurateur Alain Uy (RH Hospitality, Hogsalt, The Peninsula Chicago, Trio). With a rich history in the culinary and hospitality industry, the duo is bringing their shared vision to life with a refreshed take on classic Midwestern dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a wood-burning hearth.

Influenced by their shared experiences opening restaurants over the years and their commitment to community, Brick & Mortar will offer a reimagined take on the neighborhood restaurant, blending comfort with simplicity. The warm, inviting design of the space reflects their focus on creating a place where guests can feel at ease while enjoying food that feels both familiar and inspired.

JOB OVERVIEW
We’re now seeking an experienced and passionate General Manager to lead this exciting opening — someone who thrives in building something from the ground up and is eager to help shape a restaurant that feels right at home in the community.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Lead all front-of-house operations through pre-opening, launch, and beyond — from systems and hiring to service and culture.
• Build and inspire a best-in-class opening team committed to hospitality, professionalism, and warmth.
• Develop training materials and lead onboarding to ensure team alignment with service standards and the brand vision.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to deliver a seamless and consistent guest experience, from door to table.
• Oversee daily operations with a hands-on presence, guiding the team through the dynamic energy of opening and early growth.
• Monitor financial performance, including labor and operating costs, to drive sustainable profitability.
• Foster a positive, supportive, and collaborative culture — where team members feel empowered and invested.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 5+ years of fine dining management experience, with at least 2 years as a General Manager.
• Prior experience opening a restaurant strongly preferred.
• Deep understanding of high-level service, team leadership, and guest engagement.
• Strong financial acumen — including P&L management, labor forecasting, and cost controls.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• A calm, confident presence — especially in high-pressure, high-energy environments.
• A genuine passion for hospitality, mentorship, and creating a team-first culture from day one.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate a physically active service environment.
