The Popal Group is a growing family-driven boutique hospitality group setting the standard for DC dining through ambitious restaurant concepts. We are currently seeking an experienced Jr Sous Chef to help join our kitchen team at Maison. We are a small restaurant, and aim to be the 'neighborhood' place that is sought out by locals and world travelers alike.

Position Overview
The Junior Sous Chef will assist the Sous Chef and Chef de Cuisine in running the kitchen and will be involved in the day-to-day preparation of modern French dishes. This position is perfect for someone with a strong passion for food and beverage and who is looking to grow within a fast-paced, upscale wine bar environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing kitchen operations and ensuring that dishes are prepared on time and to specification.
  • Be ready at all times to operate/cover as a CDP and manage one section of the kitchen (e.g., pastry, sauce, grill).
  • Help with inventory control, food ordering, and stock management.
  • Prepare ingredients and food items in accordance with restaurant standards.
  • Support in the development of new menu items with the culinary team.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and follow all safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Assist with training and leading junior kitchen staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Experience in a high-end kitchen environment, preferably in a French or European-inspired setting.
  • Strong culinary skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently.
  • Desire to expand leadership skills and culinary knowledge.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($50,000.00 - $65,000.00)
