Summary
The Maître D plays a vital role in delivering exceptional guest experiences by managing all communication with the guests from being their first interaction when they arrived to the "Contact Us" section of our website, scheduling private party tours, and facilitating seamless guest interactions. This role is essential in driving private dining sales and ensuring all potential guests receive prompt, professional, and personalized service.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet guests upon arrival and ensure they feel welcome and valued.
- Manage reservations and walk-ins to maximize table occupancy while maintaining a smooth guest flow.
- Handle special requests, complaints, or concerns professionally to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Staff Supervision
- Train, schedule, and supervise front desk staff, including host and coat check.
- Ensure all front desk staff maintain high standards of appearance, behavior, and service.
- Monitor host performance and provide coaching or feedback as necessary.
- Operational Oversight
- Oversee the seating arrangement and ensure tables are turned efficiently.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure service runs smoothly and on time.
- Maintain the cleanliness and ambiance of the dining area.
- Reservation and Event Management
- Manage reservation systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Coordinate private events, group bookings, or special occasions, ensuring all details are managed.
- Communication and Coordination
- Act as the main point of communication between guests, front-of-house staff, and the kitchen.
- Communicate any guest preferences, allergies, or concerns to the appropriate staff.
- Administrative Duties
- Maintain daily reports, including guest feedback and operational observations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist with menu updates and ensure all front-of-house materials are up to date.
Qualifications
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple inquiries and follow-ups simultaneously.
- Sales-driven mindset with proven ability to negotiate and close deals.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
- Experience in event planning, hospitality, or guest services is preferred.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable, Resy).
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- Knowledge of food and beverage pairings and menu offerings.
- Must be able to use relevant computer applications (Microsoft word, excel, outlook; restaurant specific software including point-of-sale registers and business metric applications).
- Work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours).
- Ability to lift up to 30lb.
