After 50 iconic years across from Lincoln Center, Café Fiorello is bringing its beloved Italian classics to the heart of the nation’s capital. As part of the Fireman Hospitality Group, founded by acclaimed restaurateur Shelly Fireman, we are proud to continue a tradition of warm hospitality, elevated service, and authentic Italian cuisine.

From our abundant vegetable antipasto bar to our signature thin-crust pizza, every dish at Café Fiorello is crafted with passion and now, Washington, D.C. gets to experience the magic firsthand.

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join the opening culinary team at Café Fiorello DC. This is a rare opportunity to help launch the next chapter of a legendary New York institution now arriving in the heart of the nation’s capital.
What You’ll Do:

  • Support the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring consistent food quality and presentation.

  • Lead and mentor a diverse culinary team, promoting collaboration, efficiency, and high performance.

  • Ensure proper execution of classic Italian recipes while maintaining high standards for cleanliness, food safety, and prep.

  • Play a key role in pre-opening planning, training, setup, and ongoing kitchen development.

  • Uphold our core values of respect, integrity, and passion for hospitality at every service.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a fast-paced, upscale kitchen, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of Italian cuisine, with a genuine love for food and culinary excellence.

  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team in high-volume environments.

  • Proficiency in kitchen operations, ordering, inventory, and sanitation protocols.

  • A calm, solutions-oriented leader who thrives under pressure and leads by example.
