Red Hook Tavern is looking for a Host

We are looking for a wonderful host to join our team. The host is typically the first person a guest meets at the tavern, setting the tone for the entire experience. All host candidtes should be posses a warm personality and strong communication skills. An interest in the food and beverage industry is required, and staying up to date with NYC restaurant news is a plus. 

Weekend availability is a must. 

Responsibilities:

1. Greet guests as they enter, putting them on a waiting list as necessary.
2. Provide guests with link to menus and answering any initial questions.
3. Graciously seat guests while keeping table rotation in mind.
4. Engage with guests upon departure to complete the dining experience. 
5. Efficiently run the floor plan, perfectly coordinating reservations and the waitlist.
6. Take guest information and quote wait times accurately when tables are not immediately available.
7. Be observant to the needs of guests and fellow team members.
8. Help dining room staff by setting and clearing tables; replenishing water; serving beverages.
9. Remain up to date on all food menu items and changes.
10. Stay informed about all the items on our by the glass list (wines, beers, cocktails).
11. Have basic understanding of classic cocktails and taking drink orders.

Requirements:

1. Able to provide excellent customer service and maintain grace under pressure in a fast-paced environment
2. Organized
3. Punctual
4. Able to stand for 8 hours at a time
5. Friendly personality
6. Problem solving skills 
7. Attention to detail
8. Interest in learning more about food, wine and cocktails
9. Excellent communiction skills
10. A desire to help out where needed and work as part of a team
