Job Details

Nine Restaurant Group was founded by a team of local investors. Their first venture, Nine, is a modern fine dining restaurant showcasing French cuisine with strong European influences. Located in historic Beacon Hill, Nine pays homage to tradition while embracing contemporary culinary innovation.

Nine is seeking to hire a passionate, motivated, professional Sous Chef who is eager to learn and contribute ideas. Ideal candidates must be career and food driven, humble, dependable, and desire for constant development of themselves and team members. Refined food preparation techniques and execution is a must. Knowledge of food safety, food cost controls and inventory management are strongly preferred. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for any individual to be part of an ambitious group both within this restaurant and the expansion plans for the future. 

Essential Functions

  • Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and service
  • Communicate professionally and confidently with guests, employees, vendors, and leadership
  • Develop and implement creative menus that highlight French Cuisine alongside our CDC
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen spaces and stations
  • Ability to complete shift work, as assigned, timely and thoroughly
  • Provide consistent coaching and support for all hourly employees, and possess the ability to fill into any BOH hourly position
  • Prepare and present the CDC with nightly orders for the following day
  • Steward of Nine’s handbook policies, procedures, and core values

Qualifications: 

  • 2-3 years experience as Sous Chef, preferably in scratch kitchens focused on Italian and/or French influences.
  • 1 or more years experience in kitchen management
  • A professional and polished approach to leadership
  • ServSafe Food Manager Certification
  • MA Food Allergen Certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
