The Kingsway, a fine dining Asian restaurant experience from the James Beard-nominated team behind the acclaimed Saffron NOLA, is seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our leadership team. At The Kingsway, we are dedicated to pushing culinary boundaries while honoring the rich heritage of Asian cuisine.
About the Role:
As Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in executing our culinary vision, working alongside the Executive Chef Ashwin Vilkhu to deliver exceptional quality and innovation. You will be responsible for maintaining consistency, training the kitchen team, and ensuring seamless operations during service. This role demands both technical expertise and leadership skills to uphold the high standards synonymous with Saffron NOLA.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the Executive Chef and Chef De Cuisine in menu development and execution, incorporating modern techniques with traditional Asian flavors
• Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff to ensure consistent quality and presentation
• Oversee food preparation, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety standards
• Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control while maintaining high-quality standards
• Take charge of the kitchen during the Chef's absence, maintaining smooth operations
• Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure cohesive service and presentation
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook in a fine dining environment
• Some knowledge of Asian cuisine and modern culinary techniques
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and train a team
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor
• Experience with inventory management and cost control
