The restaurant presents a focused sushi menu with curated beer pairings highlighting a selection 16 beers, including the New York exclusive Shaved Black Truffle Rice Lager, specialty beers such as the Pressed Asian Pear Saison, and perennial favorites like the Juiced Lychee IPA, Orange Blossom Belgian Blonde and Sour Cherry Berliner Weisse. The beverage program also includes a curated list of wines and cocktails.


Ideal Candidates would have the following prerequisites and characteristics:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant
  • Desire and dedication to learn and offer fine dining service
  • Organization and multi-tasking skills
  • An enthusiastic and outgoing demeanor
  • 90% of your time spent on the floor completing tasks your team completes, and 10% of your time spent on admin work
  • Flexibility to work in a pooled house
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Cleaning, polishing and maintaining plates, silverware, & stemware

Requirements for our team:

  • Understanding use of POS system
  • Passion for creating memorable moments of hospitality for our guests
  • 2-4 years full-service restaurant experience in a front of house position
  • 1-2 years in fine dining
  • Strong communication skills to build trusting relationships with peers and guests
  • The ability to stay positive and calm under pressure
  • A strong work ethic and a hunger to learn and grow
  • A basic understanding of classic cookery, wine, beer, and cocktails
  • Project a professional appearance
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods up to 9 (nine) hours in length.
  • This position requires weekend availability (THURSDAY through SUNDAY), including days, nights  & weekends.

Compensation:

The base pay range for this position is paid a minimum wage and a tip credit is taken when applicable. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc!

Moody Tongue Brewing Company is pleased to introduce Moody Tongue Sushi, a new Japanese restaurant in the West Village neighborhood of New York City showcasing elevated beer and sushi pairings from the renowned culinary brewery.

The restaurant presents a focused sushi menu from Executive Sushi Chef Hiromi Iwakiri with curated beer pairings from Brewmaster Jared Rouben highlighting a selection 16 beers, including the New York exclusive Shaved Black Truffle Rice Lager, specialty beers such as the Pressed Asian Pear Saison (which is served in a flute and highlights notes reminiscent of vintage Champagne), and perennial favorites like the Juiced Lychee IPA, Orange Blossom Belgian Blonde and Yuzu Summer Ale. The beverage program also includes a curated list of wines, sakes, spirits and specialty cocktails.

Like many sushi chefs, brewers are minimalists. Both combine select ingredients to create balance and allow those ingredients to shine. Beer and sushi have delicate profiles, and the subtlety of flavors and aromatics within various beer styles allow for a wide range of pairing possibilities.
