Job Details

The Role:

            The primary roles of the Sous Chef of the restaurant will be to:

-Support and work with the Chef
-Manage the Kitchen staff
-Ensure all prep is completed properly
-Ensure the cold and hot line stations are set up and broken down correctly
-Assist with pastry and desserts
-Maintain a clean kitchen and workspace
-Ensure a positive and safe working environment.

We are looking for someone who can lead by example, is passionate about hospitality, and has the ability to manage all aspects of the kitchen.

The space and character of the new restaurant will be cool, downtown, and elegant, with a sophisticated clientele serving French Cuisine that is both accessible and refined.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Goals: 

  • Work with the Chef to Hire and Train all BOH staff
  • Create and update Training documents and recipes (as needed) to ensure all BOH staff are properly trained
  • Schedule all BOH staff according to staffing needs
  • Establish systems for ordering food and kitchen operating supplies
  • Ensure Food Costs are in line with expectations, including monthly Inventory
  • Take responsibility for all hours of the restaurant being open, and ensure all BOH staff are trained and capable in their roles and capacities 

 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • 3+ years of NYC Restaurant experience or 5+ years of Restaurant experience 
  • Positive attitude, with the ability to work under pressure while remaining patient and polite and ability to maintain grace and composure during high-volume shifts
  • Ability to multitask, and to work on the fly when the situation arises
  • Experience with team-building and ability to solve staff conflict, if and when it occurs
  • You must have a current NYC Food Handler certificate, or must obtain one within a month of hire 
  • A love or passion for food, restaurants and dining
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Pastry and Desserts would be most welcome
  • Some working knowledge of Spanish is not required, but would be helpful
  • Flexible schedule and weekend (Saturday and Sunday) availability

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($70,000.00 - $85,000.00)
