Junior Sommelier
The ideal candidate will have a captain background and experience at a fine dining establishment or similar.
Awards, Distinctions, or Diplomas from relevant institutions are a huge plus but not necessary.
Duties and Functions:
- Provides exceptional service to every customer.
- Positive attitude, very enthusiastic about wine, wine pairings, and food.
- Excellent Sales Skills.
- Recommends wines to patrons based on price, personal taste, and food selection.
- Ensures wines are served in the correct glassware and at the proper temperature.
- Demonstrates a friendly personality, good knowledge of wine and spirits, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Possesses a good understanding of region wine laws, appellations, grape varieties, harvest times, elevation, climate, soil, and fermentation processes.
- Will have full knowledge of Frevo wine and menu items to make effective sales that enhance the business and guest experience.
- Handles customer complaints or issues with a positive attitude, notifying management whenever necessary.
- Adheres to high standards of cleanliness and organization.
- Maintains all service tools, including decanters, wine keys, and more.
- Assists other stations or areas of the restaurant when required.
- Must be able to lift heavy boxes (at least 50 lbs).
- Ability to walk, stand, and bend for extended periods over multiple floors.
- Occasional kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing are required.
- Must be of legal age according to NY State regulations to serve alcohol (18 years).
- Fluent in English.
- Food safety knowledge, Food Safety certificate are a plus.
- Assist the head sommelier with the Monthly Beverage Inventory.
- Ability to step into other restaurant areas, including but not limited to answering the phone, replying to email reservations, creating procedures, and assisting the General Manager and the Executive Chef.
- Reports to the General Manager.

Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($16.50) plus tips
Estimated Weekly Tips: $1,900
