Job Summary:
The Barista & Front of House (FOH) team member at Birdee is an essential part of delivering an exceptional guest experience in a fast-paced, quality-driven, and hospitality-focused bakery. This role is responsible for crafting high-quality coffee and tea beverages, serving pastries and retail items, processing guest transactions, and maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about coffee, food, and genuine hospitality, thrives in a high-energy setting, takes pride in attention to detail, and consistently delivers warm, efficient, and thoughtful service.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver warm, elevated hospitality and create a welcoming experience for our guests.
- Prepare and serve high-quality espresso, coffee, tea, wine, and specialty beverages with consistency and care.
- Take guest orders, serve pastries and bakery items, and provide knowledgeable recommendations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the bakery's menu, seasonal offerings, and retail products.
- Accurately process payments.
- Keep the front of house clean, organized, and well-stocked, including clearing tables, sanitizing surfaces, sweeping floors, and maintaining an inviting café environment.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and health standards at all times.
- Work collaboratively with the bakery team to ensure efficient service during busy shifts.
- Assist with opening, closing, stocking, and other daily operational tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous barista experience required.
- Previous customer service
- Comfortable using a point-of-sale (POS) system and processing transactions accurately.
- Ability to stand and walk for the majority of each shift.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely operate espresso machines, coffee equipment, and other food service tools.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a specialty coffee program.
- Previous café, bakery, or restaurant experience.
- Food Handler Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Barista training or certifications, including latte art, espresso extraction, milk steaming, or coffee knowledge.
