Are you passionate about fine cuisine and ready to take the next step in your culinary career? L’Auberge Provençale, a renowned rural farm-to-table inn with Michelin aspirations, is seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to join our talented team. Nestled in the scenic countryside of White Post, VA, our boutique property is committed to exceptional guest experiences through seasonally inspired, locally sourced menus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, including dinner service (prix fixe and à la carte), limited room service, and intimate weddings or special events.

  • Lead and supervise the kitchen team, ensuring consistency, quality, and artistry in every dish.

  • Collaborate on menu development, daily specials, and recipe creation, infusing creativity while honoring Provençal traditions.

  • Oversee food preparation and cooking across all stations; step in as acting chef when the Executive Chef is off property.

  • Manage kitchen inventory, place and receive orders, and maintain accurate records of supplies and ingredient stocks.

  • Uphold rigorous kitchen sanitation and food safety standards, ensuring compliance with health regulations at all times.

  • Train, mentor, and schedule kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.

  • Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.

  • Support the execution of small weddings and private events with precision and creativity.

Ideal Candidate

  • Deep passion for farm-to-table cuisine and a drive to create memorable, refined dining experiences.

  • Proven experience in fine dining or boutique hotel kitchens; prior sous chef or lead line cook experience preferred.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a rural, close-knit team environment with a focus on excellence.

  • Culinary degree or formal training is a plus, but not required for the right candidate with demonstrated skills and dedication.

  • ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification preferred.
