The team from Golden Diner is seeking an experienced sommelier
Opening February 2025, we’re seeking experienced servers to join our team for an exciting dual-concept project. Two distinct yet complementary dining experiences will be brought under one roof: Golden HOF and NY Kimchi.

About NY Kimchi
NY Kimchi offers a modern raw bar and steakhouse experience with deep Korean influences. Our menu features high-quality American steak cuts, fresh crudo, and Korean-inspired flavors, complemented by an expertly curated wine list and creative cocktails. While the environment is sophisticated, it is not stuffy—we prioritize an engaging, enjoyable guest experience.
About Golden HOF
Golden HOF, NY Kimchi’s lively counterpart, is inspired by traditional Korean-style HOF bars. With casual pub vibes and a modern twist, it features an array of shareable dishes, soju, craft beers, and original cocktails. While the sommelier’s primary focus is NY Kimchi, awareness of Golden HOF’s offerings will be essential for a cohesive guest experience.

The Role: Sommelier
As a Sommelier at NY Kimchi, you will play a vital role in enhancing the guest experience by guiding them through a thoughtful, nuanced wine list that balances high-end selections with accessible, diverse options.
Key Responsibilities
  • Wine Sales and Pairing: Help guests navigate the wine list with confidence, providing recommendations that complement our bold, Korean-inspired dishes.
  • Unpretentious Approach: Engage guests in an approachable, dynamic way, ensuring they feel comfortable and excited about their wine choices.
  • Education and Enthusiasm: Share insights into the wine list’s design, including classic versus unconventional wines, while celebrating the unique selections offered.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with servers and bartenders to ensure a seamless guest experience across both NY Kimchi and Golden HOF spaces.
  • Quality Service: Deliver high-touch service in a fast-paced environment while maintaining an upbeat, positive energy.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with wine inventory, ensuring stock is up-to-date and well-maintained.
What We’re Looking For
  • A certified sommelier or equivalent experience with a strong passion for wine.
  • An understanding of both high-end wines and approachable, diverse selections.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a dynamic, unpretentious demeanor.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Interest in Korean cuisine and culture is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Weekend + Holiday availability a must! 
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 10 – 30 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds on a regular (or occasional basis).
  • Ability to stand for prolong periods of time.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the property. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Climbing steps regularly.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($18.00 - $25.00)
