As a Barback, you play a crucial supporting role that the bar is fully stocked, organized, and efficient through service. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in fine dining or upscale bar settings, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate the needs of the bar team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist bartenders by ensuring the bar is stocked with all necessary liquor, wine, glassware, garnishes, and tools. Restock supplies throughout the shift to ensure the bar remains fully operational.
- Monitor bar stock levels and communicate with the bartender when supplies are running low and help manage inventory
- Clean, polish, and restock glassware and bar tools to ensure all items are in top condition for use
- Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, ensuring it is always organized and visually appealing
- Prepare the bar before service by ensuring all garnishes, mixers, and liquor are prepped and that the bar station is clean and ready for service
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting bartenders with taking drink orders when needed
- Assist with bringing drinks to tables, clearing empty glasses, and replenishing drinks as needed
- Maintain a high level of speed and accuracy while assisting bartenders in a busy, high-pressure environment.
- Follow all healthy and safety guidelines including compliance with local laws regarding alcohol service
- Participate in sidework tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a barback or similar role in a high-end, fine dining, or upscale bar environment
- A strong understanding of bar tools, glassware, and standard bartending procedures
- Exceptional service skills with a professional, friendly attitude
- Ability to anticipate the needs of the bar team and guests
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to maintain a clean, well-stocked, and orderly bar area at all times
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and perform physical tasks
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining focus and attention to detail
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Understanding and adherence to all local health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of alcohol and food items
