Salary Pay Rate Range: $70K - $80K + commission

Position Summary
The Events and Sales Manager is revenue driver serving as a primary point of contact for event sales and group dining for The Bazaar by José Andrés New York, The Bazaar Bar, Nubeluz and Zaytinya. The Manager will maximize sales opportunities, develop sustainable relationships within target groups and ultimately generate business for the restaurants. The Manager will actively seek out new events business to meet or exceed monthly lead generation and sales goals, and communicate client expectations to the operations teams.

Job Functions/Responsibilities

Event Sales

  • Manage sales cycle for on-premises large groups and events from 8 to 150 guests.
  • Conduct property site visits highlighting cross-selling opportunities and maximizing revenue inside and outside of regular operating hours.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all restaurant offerings, layouts and operational processes.
  • Clearly define guest expectations, anticipate needs, and ask questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Create proposals and contracts for groups and events bookings, exercising a thorough understanding of menu and property logistics.
  • Manage contract negotiations, seeking input from legal counsel as necessary.
  • Liaise with restaurant operations team for special requests and to communicate all client expectations.
  • Create BEOs, coordination of vendors and maintenance of accurate event, payment and customer records in Tripleseat, with support of Events Administrator.
  • Ensure accuracy of all guest-facing materials and event records.
  • Collect and share client feedback with the management team.

Client Relationship Development

  • Build and nurture relationships with corporate and social event planners and hosts to ensure José Andrés Group is at the forefront of their options for events fostering loyalty and repeat business.
  • Develop a detailed database of key sales and events targets, tracking touchpoints and opportunities.
  • Review and execute on monthly goals for outreach, lead generation, and event bookings.
  • Actively seek opportunities to increase event revenue through evaluating, responding to and converting incoming leads received through Tripleseat, digital marketing platforms, hotel introductions, phone calls, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Three to five years of private dining or catering sales, event coordination or retail experience is required. Prior front-of-house restaurant or catering experience is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in luxury environment.
  • Strong food and beverage knowledge, and interest in learning about cultural traditions.
  • Must have a high comfort level actively engaging guests and colleagues across the organization.
  • Exhibits strong telephone, email, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates a positive and team-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with basic social media marketing principles.
  • Ability to analyze and report data accurately.
  • Comfortable working independently, taking initiative to identify and accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to creatively problem solve and overcome obstacles to achieve goals.
  • Excels in a fast-paced, ever-changing, and high growth company.
  • Continuous desire for learning and self-improvement by maintaining a student mentality and asking questions.
  • Actively solicits and accepts feedback on performance.

  • Knowledge and comfort level with Google Workplace, Tripleseat. 
  • Reservations platforms SevenRooms and Open Table a plus.
