Expectations:
- The ideal candidate would have extensive knowledge of Afternoon Tea service
- Knowledge of Tea preparation and service is required.

Requirements:
- Positive attitude and service oriented willing and able to go above and beyond, Ability to be warm, provide personalized service, courteous, efficient, friendly, and detailed in all interactions with guests and colleagues.
- This position is a property-based (on-site) position
- Previous experience in a luxury hotel or restaurant is required
- Strong communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of French Haute Cuisine and Afternoon Tea
- Comprehension and involvement in gastronomic terms
- Experienced tableside service skills including but not limited to:
- Table side service
- Tea steeping
Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of guests initial experience.
- Assist with greeting of guest promptly, courteously, graciously with eye contact, a smile and good posture.
- Ability to maintain a friendly yet unobtrusive manner with all guests when greeting, seating and throughout their dining experience.
- Accurate knowledge of guest
- Able to learn and retain guest information, career/job info, family history and preference, while maintaining guest confidentiality.
- Ability to anticipate and service the guest’s requirements before requests are necessary which may include suggestive selling.
- Able to multi-task to achieve all goals of a server’s section of approximately 4 to 10 tables or 20 to 30 guests.
- To ensure all details of service are performed properly and that every guest receives the highest quality of service at all times.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to facilitate a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all interactions with all guests of the restaurant.
- Ability to take accurate and correct orders– pertaining to all food & beverages or any other area pertaining to the service of a guest.
- Ability to serve food and beverages as required
- Carry trays, bus, clear, re-set tables with linen, china, glass and silver per standard and in an unobtrusive and professional manner.
- Must be able to service food to and from kitchen production lines and beverages from the service bar to stations or guest tables as needed.
- Ability to perform all duties required for general maintenance/bussing as needed
- Retrieving dirty plates, cutlery, glasses and items upon guest request or after a designated time period.
- Set-up of station before, during and after shift including all mis en place
- General cleanliness and sanitary responsibilities including:
- Managing time and work load to ensure the smooth running of all operational needs between the Front of House and the Back of House operations pertaining to all aspects of service.
- Ability to utilize hotel communication systems
- Ability to utilize the hotel’s computer systems correctly
- Punch In / Punch Out at beginning and close of your shift (required)
- All banking procedures as required
- To enable a safe working environment for oneself and all employees within the entire lounge operation including Front and Back of House areas or any areas pertaining to the lounge operation.
- Able to work with co-workers to facilitate the smooth operation of the lounge
- Experience and knowledge of food, wine, wine paring, liquors, mixed drinks, etc in an independent restaurant operation.
- Participation in meetings, continuing education and training as required.
- Responsible for personal schedules/payroll keeping/records
- Responsible for uniform maintenance, appearance and procedures.
- Ability to perform other tasks or projects as assigned by the hotel management and staff.
- Passion for Luxury Food and Beverage and Excellence, New York City F&B Luxury Hospitality experience preferred.
- NYC Food Protection Certificate and TIPS training is a plus
- Excellent presentation.
- Problem Solving, Ability to be creative, innovative and strive for continuous improvements,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Micros Shift4 and Opera Cloud.
- FSD – Fire Safety Director certification is a plus
Physical Demands
- Continuous standing and walking
- Negotiating carpeted floor, marble floor and steps from one moment to the next
- Carrying with one elbow in static flexion to hold tray, one arm in repetitive midline crossing and flexion/extension to serve guests
- Lifting from chest height to table top
- Push/pull chairs as needed
- Fine motor coordination is needed for writing guest checks and folding napkins
- The ability to lift 25/50/. pounds when required
- The ability to respond quickly to sounds and Hotel alarms
- The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
- The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations timely
- The ability to come to work in extreme weather
- The ability to stand up at a desk or podium for extended period of time, including an entire shift
- May have to accommodate guest by moving a briefcase or pushing a 50 lb. chair to another place.
- Standing and walking is continuous for 4-5 hours at a time
- Lifting and carrying 15 lb. Tray is continuous
- Negotiating varied floor surfaces is continuous
- Moving chairs, briefcases, or coats is occasional
- Restaurant is dimly lit. Good sight and balance needed for negotiating varied floor surfaces, handling lighted candles, and handling hot fluids (coffee and tea).
Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($11.00) plus tips
