Title:  Runner

Reports to:  Food & Beverage Manager, Chefs

Who We Are…

Welcome to The Ned NoMad, a sophisticated members' club and hotel nestled in the heart of New York City. As the first international outpost of The Ned, we proudly opened our doors in Summer 2022, following the iconic debut of The Ned London in 2017.

The Property…

Set in the historic Johnston Building, formerly the NoMad Hotel, our property boasts a rich legacy dating back to 1903. With design expertise from the Soho House Design team, we've lovingly preserved the building's original charm while infusing it with a fresh, contemporary style.

At The Ned NoMad, we offer an eclectic mix of exclusive and public spaces, including 167 elegantly appointed bedrooms and suites, a lively rooftop bar and terrace restaurant, a first-floor bar, restaurant, lounge, and nightly live entertainment.

The Role…

We are on the lookout for a dynamic Runner to join our team and report directly to the Food & Beverage and Chef managers. In this role, you'll thrive in our fast-paced environment, juggling multiple tasks and projects with flair, efficiency, and independence.

Our culture is one of vibrant energy paired with unwavering support. We’re seeking an individual who excels in collaboration, communicates effectively, and is deeply committed to delivering exceptional service. Your attention to detail and customer-focused approach will ensure that every guest experience at The Ned NoMad is not just memorable, but truly extraordinary.

We hire only with open availability.

Main Duties…

  • Efficiently deliver food and beverage orders from the kitchen/bar to guest tables, ensuring proper temperature and presentation.
  • Identify and handle special requests (dietary restrictions, allergies) with clear communication to the kitchen staff.
  • Possess a basic understanding of the menu to answer guest inquiries about ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Assist servers with table setup, ensuring proper placement of silverware, glassware, napkins, and any necessary condiments based on the ordered dishes.
  • Replenish service stations with necessary supplies (condiments, napkins, utensils) before they run low, anticipating server needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized dining area by clearing used dishes, glassware, and utensils promptly after each course.
  • Bus tables efficiently, stacking dishes and glassware appropriately for dishwashing.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and service staff to ensure seamless order flow. Report any discrepancies or delays promptly.
  • Assist servers with refilling water glasses, clearing small plates, and addressing minor guest requests to alleviate their workload.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a fast-paced F&B environment preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a fast-paced team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently while adhering to high standards.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues and guests.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and carrying (plates, trays, etc.) for extended periods.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain and navigate the restaurant efficiently.
  • Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor while working long hours and under pressure.
  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
  • Long periods of sitting or standing.
  • Fast paced movements occasionally required to go from one part of the club to others.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate clearly with guests, members, and coworkers.
  • Must be able to reach and handle the computer, keyboard, and desktop items.
  • Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 months of experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently while also being a team player.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to providing exceptional service.
  • Physically fit and able to carry moderate weight (up to 30 lbs.) for extended periods.

Part of The Ned

WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2017, the Ned NoMad is a members’ club and hotel that originated in the UK. During the summer of 2022 the Ned expanded its membership experience to New York and opened its first international ‘Ned’ site.

Located in The Johnston Building and formerly the NoMad Hotel in Manhattan, the property was built in 1903 as a store and office building. The original architectural features will be honoured, with interiors designed by the Soho House Design team.

THE PROPERTY
The Ned NoMad will offer a mix of members-only and public spaces, including 167 bedrooms and suites. Ned’s Club will give members access to a rooftop bar and terrace restaurant as well as a first floor bar, grill and lounge with live entertainment from The Atrium Stage, seven nights a week. New to the property will be Cecconi’s, a modern day classic Italian restaurant.

HOW WE WORK
This is a fast-moving business so we are looking for the right individual to be autonomous and be able to pick up multiple tasks and projects at once.

Our culture is pacey but supportive, so you must be able to work in synergy with your peers and the different departments around you. Being an active communicator who is detail-oriented and customer centric is a must to ensure the front office operations are seamless and effective.
