Enswell Pastry Chef 

Enswell is an award winning all-day restaurant located in Rittenhouse Square with a full kitchen, cafe, comprehensive cocktail menu, and bottleshop. Owned and operated by Rival Bros Coffee Roasters, Enswell opened in 2023 in the space of a previous Rival Bros cafe on Spruce Street. The restaurant brings together many different passions and services under one roof; Enswell aims to be a place where one might have an upscale meal right next to another enjoying a craft cocktail or phenomenal cup of coffee. 

We are looking for a Pastry Chef to join the Enswell Team. As the Pastry Chef, you will work closely with Executive Chef Andrew Farley, helping execute the vision for Enswell. This candidate will be an integral part of our kitchen line and prep team. They have a growth mindset and are committed to learning and excellence. This candidate works well in a team environment and generates high team morale. They have an eye for detail and maintain high food quality standards. 


Essential Job Duties:

Culinary

  • Experience preparing various baked good and desserts
  • Experience creating and troubleshooting new bread and dessert recipes
  • Extensive knowledge and practice of food ingredients and cooking techniques
  • In touch with current industry trends
  • Ability to create standardized recipe through documentation and training
  • Experience with receiving products, line check procedures, and inventory control 

Teamwork 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and all team members
  • Communicate with and be a point person for FOH staff during service
  • Ensure kitchen lines are set up for service
  • Strong and effective written, verbal, and digital communication skills 
  • Strong time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently 
  • Possess the ability to professionally navigate through conflict and resolve issues effectively 
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork and care through supporting of teammates to accomplish shared goals and tasks

Operations 

  • Oversee day to day culinary operations of your station under Chef Farley including writing of prep list, organization of day, and breakdown and clean up of station. 
  • Strong understanding of how to use a wide range of cooking equipment, troubleshoot equipment issues, and possess routine maintenance knowledge
  • Understands importance of food quality and consistency and demonstrate them through daily decision making and practices 
  • Strong understanding of food safety, health code safety, and cleaning chemical safety and best practices
  • Operate in a hygienic manner to help align the restaurant in compliance with City health regulations 
  • Demonstrates strong care for the kitchen and restaurant through care and upkeep of physical space and equipment
  • Review operations and lead in putting away of kitchen deliveries

Enswell’s Expectations: 

  • Attend scheduled shifts on time and in accordance with dress code and appearance guidelines
  • Strong knowledge of products sold in the restaurant
  • Availability to work a varied and flexible schedule, including the busiest restaurant shifts such as evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Availability to work early mornings                                                                                                                                                                                                   

Physical Demands:

  • This position will require the employee to periodically lift, push, pull or carry items up to 50 lbs in weight (putting away deliveries of boxes, heavy items such as large flour orders, etc)
  • This position requires the employee to stand for extended periods of time 
  • This position will require the employee to periodically climb stairs, ramps or uneven surfaces
  • This position will require the employee to work with equipment that is hot and/or sharp
