JOB SUMMARY
Supervise set-up, event and breakdown of banquets. Maintain inventory, banquet storerooms, and equipment. Directly supervise all banquet employees in all job responsibilities. Train banquet staff. Assist Director of Events as assigned.
Rate of Pay: $50,000
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Banquet Supervision – supervise all hourly staff (10-15 employees) in banquet functions (servers and bartenders). Assign, direct, and change work assignments as necessary.
- Set-up
-Assign stations to staff during pre-shift meeting
-Check for specialty items (i.e. cakes, flowers)
-Prepare AV items and check
-Make certain event set-up completely at appointed time
- Event
-Follow scheduled times and/or host’s wishes
-Supervise serving and clearing of dinner
-Calculate bill
- Banquet Breakdown
-Room cleared and cleaned
-Banquet equipment cleaned and returned to storage
-Calculate bill, present to host for signature and/or payment
-Inspect storage areas and rooms, see that everything is secure
-Fill out banquet evaluation/counsel staff as needed
Maintenance
- Schedule clean-up of storerooms and maintain inventory
- Do banquet inventories on liquor, staples and tools (chafing dishes, utensils, dishes)
- Make arrangements to have all necessary tools prior to each banquet
- Check rooms daily for repairs, problems
-Report any problems
Employee Management
- Schedule and coordinate banquet training
- Evaluate staff performance
- Assign and direct staff as needed
- Verbally counsel and discipline employees as needed; recommend and discuss more serious matters with catering management.
- Authority to suspend an employee for a serious violation or incident pending investigation
- Scheduling of Banquet staff.
- Confirmation of payroll.
Complete special projects as assigned by Director of Events
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
All other job duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS / STANDARDS
- Restaurant / Service Management Background
- Some college course or college degree preferred
- Good communication skills internal and external
- Basic knowledge of MS Office suite
- Ability to lead
- Ability to work well with others
- Able to handle multiple tasks at once
