Calling all college students, graduate students, and food enthusiasts interested in working at the intersection of restaurant hospitality, culinary research, and regenerative agriculture.
Blue Hill at Stone Barns is hiring for our Summer Research Internship—a paid 8-10 week position.
About The Role:
Blue Hill at Stone Barns and our nonprofit farm partner, the Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture, are building a food and farming institute with the mission to develop a regional and ecological future of food. Summer Interns will contribute to this mission by working with Blue Hill’s Special Projects team on projects ranging from culinary and agricultural history, to processing techniques, data collection, and media.
Interns will also participate in educational programming to develop interdisciplinary and firsthand food system knowledge. Through weekly readings, discussions, guest speakers, and occasional field trips, interns gain exposure to themes including pasture-based livestock management, regional grain economies, and fermentation. All interns will report directly to the Special Projects Managers and Blue Hill will provide educational materials, hands-on activities, and family meals on all on-site working days.
This job description in no way implies that these are the only duties to be performed—interesting ad hoc projects are to be expected!
You will work four days a week—Tuesday remotely, and Wednesday through Friday on campus.
About You:
-
Demonstrated interest exploring the intersection between food culture and regenerative farming.
-
Exceptional research, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.
-

-

-
Multidisciplinary undergraduates currently enrolled in junior or senior years, and those pursuing food and/or farming systems focused graduate programs will be given preference.
Location:
-
In-person at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Westchester, NY (~1 hr drive from NYC) with select remote hours once a week.
