Mordecai is seeking an Assistant General Manager!
Located directly across from Wrigley Field, Mordecai offers an elevated, yet approachable, dining experience with a high-end sense of hospitality.
We are a bi-level restaurant and cocktail bar, offering an extensive list of vintage and collectable spirits along with innovative cocktails curated by the same team responsible for Logan Square’s renowned Billy Sunday. Both our cocktail and wine lists are designed to engage, educate and entice. Our menu features traditional, American favorites, and hyper-seasonal specials by our Executive Chef, Djibril Webb, who was recently voted best Chef in Lakeview.
Mordecai is open for dinner seven days a week, with extended hours during the Cubs baseball season. Mordecai provides in-room dining and lobby service for the adjacent Hotel Zachary, along with private dining experiences curated by our events’ team.

The Assistant General Manager’s responsibilities include overseeing the floor, touching tables, supporting staff, and monitoring the door. Handling communication and coordination with events, beverage, and BOH teams.
Assisting the general manager with daily operations including: opening and closing the restaurant, preparing and reconciling closing banks, conducting pre-shifts, writing daily recaps, and writing/updating training materials.
Candidates Should Have:
At least 2 years of management experience in a fast-paced restaurant setting with extensive food and beverage knowledge.
Computer knowledge: Microsoft, Toast POS, Opentable, Adobe Illustrator
Private events experience is preferred.
Be willing to work nights and weekends.
Commit to active and team oriented styles of service and leadership.
Possess a strong desire to grow their existing skill set.
Enthusiasm for sports is a plus!
Schedule:
5 days a week including nights, weekends, and days during baseball season.
