Job Description:

A Support Team member at Floriole will work closely with the leadership team, the team of bakers, and the FOH team to ensure the smooth functioning and general cleanliness and maintenance of the bakery. Support team members will be expected to uphold the cleanliness & quality standards of Floriole, maintain a clean & sanitary dish room and dining room, receive and put away orders, comply with systems and policies, assist with events & various projects as necessary, and complete daily, weekly, and monthly projects as designated by their supervisor. The ideal candidate will be able to work quickly & efficiently in a fast-paced environment, show responsibility & take initiative, demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills, as well as a desire to learn and grow.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understands & upholds Floriole's mission statement & guiding principles. Complies with all Floriole policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in all stations: Support 1 & Support 2
  • Assists with kitchen prep work as necessary
  • Works quickly and efficiently to wash all dishes created during production & service in the cafe.
  • Ensures cleanliness standards in the dining room by bussing, removing dirty dishes, putting away clean dishes, sweeping throughout the day, and maintaining the cleanliness of bathrooms before & after service.
  • Follows cleaning and project schedules and is compliant with daily/weekly/monthly checklists to complete all duties.
  • Ensures dish room, dining room, and other Support workspaces are neat, clean and sanitary. Adheres to sanitation regulations.
  • Accurately receives, labels, stores, and FIFOs inventory.
  • Available to assist with FOH & BOH teams & on-site/off-site events as needed.
  • Participates as an active member of a team by receiving & contributing feedback in coaching sessions and during team gatherings and meetings.
  • Communicates and coordinates with the FOH, BOH, and Leadership teams as necessary to support the day-to-day operations of the bakery, including feedback about equipment and repairs.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, go up and down stairs and work standing for long periods of time.

Job Details:

  • Full-Time / Part-time Position
  • Weekends and Holidays are a must. 
  • Shifts are scheduled between 7:30am - 3:30pm (subject to change)
  • $16.50/ hour +tips
  • Eligible for health insurance after 90 days (50% employer contribution). 
  • Sick leave in accordance with Chicago law 
  • Up to 40 hours accrued PTO annually

  • Leadership experience is a plus.
  • IL Food Handler Certificate required.
  • Servsafe Allergen Certificate preferred.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($16.50) plus tips

Estimated Weekly Tips: $260

Floriole began as a stand at Chicago’s famed Green City Market, where for nearly 5 years we sold our rustic, French pastries in a 10-by-10 tent. We dreamed then of having our own brick-and-mortar space, and that dream came true in 2010 when we opened our beautiful cafe and bakery in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.
Expanding on our market pastry offerings, our menu now includes breads, sandwiches, salads—and, of course, more pastries. We remain committed to using the best ingredients available. Most produce, meats, dairy and cheeses are sourced directly from sustainable farms in the region. We use organic flour and sugar, Valrhona chocolate, European-style butter and cage-free eggs.
We are forever grateful to the Green City Market for giving us a place to sell our pastries, to Kitchen Chicago for providing our first kitchen space, to our amazing staff for making everything possible, and to our customers who share in our love for honest food and make it a pleasure to go to work each day.
