Onggi is an upscale casual Korean restaurant that will be located in the vibrant neighborhood of Dupont Circle in Washington, DC. Our 2,000-square-foot space will accommodate 60 seats, offering an intimate yet inviting dining experience. The restaurant is slated to open in March 2025.
Inspired by a desire to share the rich flavors and traditions of Korean cuisine, we aim to create a space where the local community and visitors from around the world can gather and enjoy authentic Korean dishes. We hope to offer an experience that captures the warmth and essence of traditional Korean food.
We are seeking personable and detail-oriented Servers to join our team at Onggi. As the face of our restaurant, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and delivering an exceptional dining experience. Your enthusiasm for hospitality and deep understanding of our menu will help showcase the rich traditions of Korean cuisine to our guests.
Responsibilities will include:
- Greet guests and guide them through the Onggi dining experience.
- Present the menu, offer recommendations, and answer questions about Korean cuisine and beverage pairings.
- Accurately take orders and input them into the point-of-sale system, communicating any special requests to the kitchen and bar teams.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and with attention to detail.
- Monitor tables to ensure a seamless dining experience, proactively addressing guest needs.
- Handle payments and process transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Support side work tasks, including setting tables, polishing glassware, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Stay knowledgeable about daily specials, menu changes, and promotions.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service operations.
Qualifications:
- Food safety and sanitation certified, or willingness to obtain certification.
- At least 3 years of experience as a server, upscale/fine dining experience preferred.
- A willingness to learn and share information about Korean cuisine with guests.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates a positive and collaborative attitude.
- Basic math skills for handling payments and processing transactions accurately.
- Ability to stand, walk, and carry trays for up to 8 hours at a time, with scheduled breaks throughout the shift.
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
