Position Overview:
The Beverage Captain/Sommelier will be responsible for overseeing the restaurant’s wine and beverage program. This role involves collaborating closely with Management to support day-to-day operations, ensuring the highest standards of service and quality are maintained throughout the guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting management on the floor, ensuring steps of service and companies’ standards are always followed by coordinating front-of-house operations, ensuring smooth collaboration among staff and consistently exceeding guest expectations.
- Oversee all aspects of the restaurant’s wine and beverage offerings, including bar operations, inventory, organization, and cost control.
- Develop and lead comprehensive training programs for the team, focusing on wine and beverage knowledge, tasting and service excellence.
- Partner with management to ensure the delivery of exceptional service and seamless operational flow.
- Assist in daily operational tasks such as reporting and opening/closing procedures.
- Lead by example to cultivate a positive, professional, and collaborative team environment, while upholding the highest performance standards.
- Provide coaching, constructive feedback, and guidance to staff members to foster their ongoing growth, engagement, and motivation.
- Ensure all team members comply with company policies and procedures.
- Greet and welcome guests with a warm, professional demeanor.
- Address guest requests efficiently and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Inspects all orders for accuracy and damaged products.
- Assists with Stocking, Cellar Management, Beverage Inventory, and other administrative tasks as directed by senior management.
Qualifications and experience:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the hospitality industry, specifically in a beverage captain / sommelier role.
- Previous fine dining experience is preferred
- Kosher experience not required
- Strong knowledge of food & beverage and wine service.
- Exceptional proficiency in English (both written and verbal).
- Impeccable grooming and professional appearance.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings and holidays as required by business needs.
