Head Sommelier

Founded by industry veterans James Julius (Annabel’s, Major Food Group) and Executive Chef Michele Esposito (Forte Dei Marmi, Casa Tua), Harbour Club Miami is poised to become a premier destination for luxury dining and refined experiences. With three distinct outlets, our establishment will offer unparalleled service and an elegant atmosphere. Harbour Club, a Japanese restaurant, and Palm Room, a speakeasy-style lounge, will be exclusive to our esteemed members, while our upscale Mediterranean concept, a'Riva, will welcome all guests to enjoy its exceptional offerings. 

We are seeking talented, dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team and contribute to the success of this exciting new venture.

As Head Sommelier at Harbour Club Miami, you will elevate our members and guests' dining experiences with your extensive knowledge of wines and pairings. Your expertise will contribute to the sophisticated ambiance and high standards of Harbour Club.


Responsibilities:

  • Foster Member Relationships: Interact with members and guests in a warm and welcoming manner, addressing them by name when possible. Learn and notate member preferences, allowing us to personalize and elevate their experiences. Provide information about the club’s offerings and events.
  • Wine Pairing Expertise: Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the wine lists, including origins, vintages, and tasting notes. Curate tailored wine pairings for members and guests. 
  • Wine Presentation: Execute refined wine presentations, including decanting and proper service techniques.
  • Menu Expertise: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all food and beverage offerings, including inspirations, origins, preparation methods, ingredients, and allergens, providing expert recommendations. Assist management with updating and printing beverage menus and training materials.
  • Inventory Management: Assist management with monitoring and managing wine inventory, ensuring proper stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Chef, management, culinary, and service teams to ensure seamless dining experiences.
  • Training and Mentoring: Assist management in developing and mentoring staff, ensuring a well-trained and motivated team.
  • Professional Presentation: Lead by example in maintaining high standards of grooming and appearance, reflecting the establishment's refined image. Uphold Harbour Club's standards of service, professionalism, and hospitality at all times.

Qualifications:

  • The right charisma to enhance the dining room atmosphere, engaging with members/guests in a manner that adds to the overall ambiance. A sommelier should be able to create a warm, inviting environment while maintaining an air of sophistication.
  • A strong passion for delivering outstanding hospitality experience coupled with knowledge of wines, including regions, varietals, wine service and pairing principles. (WSET, CMS, or similar certification is a plus)
  • Experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, traverse stairs and lift/carry heavy items on occasion.
