PAPA SAN MAÎTRE D’

The hospitality group behind the acclaimed New York City restaurants, Llama Inn and Llama San is expanding its footprint with the upcoming Papa San, a Peruvian Izakaya set to open in early 2025 on 34th Street and 10Th Avenue (in The Spiral building). We are currently looking to hire a talented and experienced Maître d’ to start January 2025.

The Maître d’ will play a pivotal role at the front door of the restaurant. The Maître d' is the face of the restaurant and ensures that all guests feel immediately valued. The position should help the development of future return guests, especially VIPs, which is a crucial part of the long-term success of the restaurant.  It will also help to coordinate hospitality for PDR guest.

Responsibilities

Day to Day:

• Organize greeting, seating and exiting of all guests using a professional demeanor.
• Able to communicate professionally and effectively with both guests and staff.
• Organize all reservations and guests using the most effective guest and restaurant conscious procedures.
• Professionally and effectively communicate with guests & managers to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Maintain guest relationships to promote repeat business.

• Personally greet and escort high-profile guests to their tables, making them feel comfortable and prioritized.

• Implement quick and efficient decisions based on guest and/or restaurant needs.
• Utilizing Resy to the best of its capacities and create a good rhythm of service.
• Maintain the email inbox and reply to inquiries, flag emails for managers and keep track of special requests.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in full-service restaurant.
• High volume experience of 200-300 covers per night preferred 
• Proven leadership ability and track record.
• The ability to remember guest names and faces.
• Have a warm and inviting personality
• Ability to effectively work with a small team of host and delegate responsibilities.
• Knowledge and experience with our various systems is preferred (Toast, Resy)
• A keen sense of ownership, attention to detail and follow through.
• Latin restaurant experience is a plus

Pay Rate: $30 an hour
