Counter Staff

Thea is the new Fort Greene project from Chef Tomer Blechman of Miss Ada, Nili and Theodora. The bakery is a continuation of the work we are doing at Theodora, centered around warm hospitality, fresh baked bread and pastries, house-made provisions and a creative sandwich program. 

We are looking for friendly and welcoming hospitality professionals to join our team. The right candidate will have some experience in food service, ideally in a bakery or restaurant setting. Some barista experience is great, but not a requirement for the role. 

The front of house team works closely with our Executive Pastry Chef and Savory Chef on a day to day level to ensure a warm and genuine guest experience. The team is supported by shift leads and overseen by ownership and management. 

The counter role is centered around hospitality, menu knowledge, and a sense of community building. 

Day to Day:
- greeting guests in line and explaining the ordering process
- packing pastry orders and answering questions about the menu
- packing lunch orders
- restocking, organization, supporting the barista team
- recognizing returning guests, ensuring a seamless guest experience in a very busy space

Schedule Requirements:
Candidates will only be considered if they have full availability, are open to 3-5 shifts per week (18 to 30 hours) and are able to work on weekends. 

Physical Requirements:

• Be able to stand for extended periods of time [over 7 hours]
• Be able to lift and carry 50 pounds steadily 
• Be comfortable bending, sitting, walking extended distances including up and down flights of stairs, and moving.
