Job Details
The Captain position at Café Boulud works with the management team and all other front-of-house and back-of-house team members. The Captain is responsible for serving guests in a warm, accommodating and professional manner to ensure total guest satisfaction. They are in charge of a specific station and should always be present on the floor making sure that service runs smoothly.
Essential Duties
- Responsible for a specific station
- Be present on the floor to make sure that service runs smoothly
- Serve and clear food in cooperation with the Assistant Captain
- Communicate well with the Assistant Captain and runner in order to provide the correct sequence of service
- Greet all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness
- Engage the guests to create positive dining experiences
- Execute on-going, pre- and post-shift side work
- Open and close the dining room and beverage station as needed
- Be knowledgeable of the dishes on the menu and be prepared to answer any questions from the guest
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of service experience, be able to handle a high volume/fine dining environment and should have a general food and wine knowledge.
