Program Description:
City Beet Kitchens is a mission-based catering company. We were established in 1995 as “Comfort Foods” and rebranded in 2015 to “City Beet Kitchens.” We cater to large clients in the non-profit space (institutional division) as well as corporate and private events (events division), providing meals, snacks, boxed lunches and curated, event specific food services.
This position is for the events side of the business working as a Chef to overlook the preparation of meals for all our customers. The position hours are 6am to 3pm.
Overall Responsibilities:
The Chef is responsible for overseeing the proper preparation of food for our private customers as well as a few institutional clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare meals using kettle cooking in a high-volume commercial kitchen.
- Ability to read and employ math skills to work with a budget.
- Familiarity with and the ability to utilize kitchen cooking equipment’s such as kettle, ovens, and stove top to prepare meals.
- Must have a food centric approach, passion for food flavors and its visual appearance.
- Ability to learn and to understand CBK's mission of feeding our clientele and genuinely caring about the food we prepare for our clients and outside customers.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of high volume cooking experience
- High volume restaurant or catering experience
- Thorough understanding of NYC Food Standards
