Boka Restaurant Group is currently seeking a bilingual (Spanish) HR People Manager!


General Description:
 As the Human Resources People Manager, you will work closely with the BRG HR Team and the Director of Operations to support restaurant employees and oversee the employee life cycle at all restaurants in assigned locations.

Schedule:5 days a week with the expectation to be on property.  


HR People Manager Responsibilities:

Human Resources Administration: 

Employee Onboarding and Offboarding:  

    • Oversee the salaried manager life cycle including, drafting offer letters, maintaining job descriptions, coordinating onboarding/offboarding, tracking vacation and time away, anniversary, performance management, etc. 
    • Serve as the main touchpoint for the hourly employee onboarding experience at assigned locations and monitor adherence to HR procedures. 
    • Schedule and complete all onboarding for hourly employees at assigned locations including:  
      • Ensuring each employee has a complete application.  
      • Draft hourly offer letter and present job description.  
      • Complete onboarding in payroll software including:  
        • Ensuring employee completes full registration. 
        • Completing I9 (Section 1 + 2).  
        • Signing the employee handbook. 
        • Completing Sexual Harassment Prevention training.  
        • Uploading certifications as needed. 
        • Ensuring employee is set up in scheduling platform. 
    • Process all Personnel changes and Terminations at assigned locations following HR procedures.  
    • Responsible for updating and maintaining employee documents and policies including handbooks, job descriptions, new hire paperwork, etc. based on new developments and guidelines. 

 

Payroll Processing:

    • Process hourly and salary payrolls for assigned restaurant locations including but not limited to; verifying regular and overtime hours, reconciling tips, and commissions against POS reports, assisting restaurant teams in issues that may arise.   
    • Process adjustments to payroll, such as retro pay and bonus payments. 
    • Provide and audit active employee roster.  
    • Escalate for approval and processes any off-cycle manual checks as needed. 
    • Manage and execute payroll for offsite event teams if applicable. 
    • Responsible for the coordination between payroll and Business Directors to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data. 
    • Serve as point of contact for payroll related questions at assigned locations and responsible for escalating when necessary.  

 

Benefits 

    • Assist with administration of employee benefits processes including but not limited to, sick pay, insurance deductions, and 401K deductions. 
    • Educating employees about offered benefits, including determining eligibility and assistance in the enrollment process.  
    • Serve as point of contact for enrollment and benefit questions from employees at assigned locations. 

 

Employee Relations: 

  • Serve as a resource to employees and managers, handling questions and helping to resolve work-related matters, including leading investigations, providing associated documentation and escalating issues or questions as necessary. 
  • Liase with Hotel HR team to create symbiotic work environment  
  • Effectively guide and coach management teams on leadership, proper disciplinary action, and timely documentation. 
  • Ensure all terminations are reviewed and approved by HR leadership prior to the completion of the termination. 
  • Identify applicable leave options for employees including FMLA/ADA/VESSA.  
  • Provide employees with the necessary documentation and paperwork required for requested accommodation or leave.    
  • Track all employees on leave at assigned locations and provide follow-up as necessary.   
  • Coordinate and communicate with restaurant teams regarding accommodations and placements. 
  • Manage documentation and overall workflow process for employee issues and investigations. 
  • Maintain proper separation of Boka staff from other resources on property. 
  • Maintain confidentiality with all employee information. 
  • Leading each employee interaction with warmth, empathy, and sensitivity. 

 

Development + Training: 

  • Schedule and lead standing meetings with operational leadership in assigned locations.  
  • Participate in status calls and regular meetings with the BRG HR Team.  
  • Work closely with the HR team to coordinate and execute quarterly/annual and one-off training for hourly and salary employees. 
  • Schedule and help execute Manager and Hourly employee orientation. 
  • Instruct, train and ensure management staff knows how to interpret and comply with all company policies and procedures. 
  • Manage & implement cultural & community initiatives inside of assigned locations.  
  • Assist with recruitment process including generating employment Ads and monitoring resumes. 
  • Attend conferences/workshops/webinars regarding Human Resource Initiatives. 

 

Communication & Cross Team Collaboration:  

  • Assist with implementation and change process associated with HR initiatives as needed.  
  • Work directly with restaurant teams to identify areas of opportunity in internal HR processes, training in best practices, and analyze and implement new systems.  
  • Conduct and analyze regular internal audits to ensure data integrity. 
  • Maintain confidentiality with all employee information. 
  • Perform regular audits to ensure data integrity. 
  • Work with HR Leadership to ensure employment laws, regulations, policies, and procedures are maintained at your assigned location.

Compensation Details
