Vibrant Bar with scratch kitchen seeking sous chef. $55k to $60K based on experience.
The qualified applicant should fill most if not all the following criteria:
Previous Restaurant experience (3 years minimum in sous/kitchen management role)
Experience in an Independent restaurant preferred
Strong organizational skills (ordering, inventory, costs (food, labor)
High standard of cleanliness
Serv safe certified (management course preferred)
Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency
Ability to work under pressure
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Extensive food and beverage knowledge
Ability to lead by example and to teach cooks/prep/dish staff.
Catering/large party experience a plus
Knowledge of and appreciation for the local culinary scene
The sous chef will work closely with the executive chef, general manager and owners. This person maintains a cooperative relationship with team members, optimizes staff productivity, and serves as a replacement in team members absence.
The successful candidate will oversee:
· Training of staff to use recipes, cooking techniques and equipment.
· Cooks performing food preparation
· Deliveries of food and the rotation and handling of food items
· Weekly and monthly inventory to track in house product and for ordering purposes
· Cleanliness of the kitchen equipment, dish room, walk in, floors, mats, hoods, exhaust, dumpster/receiving area
· Quality control of everything that is made by or delivered to the kitchen.
· Safe sanitation practices with dish/ prep and cooks. You will oversee safe food handling practices and make immediate adjustments when necessary.
