Come join the team at GERTIE - a Jew-ish Diner in Williamsburg! gertie’s is open 5 days a week. GERTIE serves modern takes on classic delicatessen dishes and bagel sandwiches alongside natural wine and cocktails.
Essential Duties Include (but not limited to):
- Responsible for multiple aspects of kitchen operations including, but not limited to, preparation, cooking, and portioning of food.
- Ability to effectively open and close the kitchen in a timely and clean manner.
- Properly using kitchen equipment including, but not limited to, fryers, blenders, food processors, and mixers.
- A familiarity with common allergens and dietary restrictions.
- Able to communicate and work effectively with managers and ownership.
- Maintain a high level of consistency and quality as set by the Executive Chef.
- Maintain cleanliness in accordance with the Health Department and restaurant standards.
- Putting away orders and keeping all storage spaces organized and tidy.
- Filling out prep and par sheets.
- Effectively communicating any kitchen issues to leadership.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Climbing steps regularly
