BAVEL is a Middle Eastern restaurant that bridges together fresh ingredients with slow cooking techniques, incorporating aromatic woods, spices, pickling, smoke, and herbs. We serve different versions of flatbreads and spreads, a chef's selection of cured meats, cold and hot small plates highlighting vegetables, with large format meat and fish dishes. Our desserts take flavors and ingredients found in the Middle East and build on their traditions with a touch of modernity.
We are currently looking to fill an Assistant Bar Director position.
Job Details
Admin & Creative:
- Collaborate with Bar Director on cocktail creation and R&D - working closely with Chef team for seasonal ingredients
- Support counting inventory, process weekly liquor orders, and execute product transfers between restaurants
- Accurately and efficiently place produce orders
- Prepare prep lists for twice-weekly prep shifts across three locations
- Shared oversight of all bar financials
Service:
- Availability to work nightly services across three locations
- Understanding of sequence of service, proper execution of cocktails, and standards of bar service
- Collaborate with the Bar Director to accommodate time-off requests and cover call-outs when necessary.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of our food menus and be able to sufficiently wait on tables, work service well, and run food
- Detailed awareness of, and assistance in maintaining standards for bar and service teams
- Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the company’s product and ideologies
- Observe the bars as a component to the overall success of the restaurants. Be flexible to management & team requests which may require assistance on the dining room floor and other aspects to the restaurant
Training & Development:
- Assist with recruitment and training of Bartenders and Barbacks for three locations
- Support Management with counseling Bar team members
- Support staff education on spirits, selling techniques, and general bar knowledge
- Attending manager meetings and maintaining awareness of general restaurant operations, as well as advising when bar-related issues arise
Requirements:
- 5+ years bar experience
- 2+ years management experience
- Exceptional and uncompromising leadership skills
