TenGoku Aburiya is one of the hottest Izakaya-style restaurants in Chicago. We aim to create a welcoming environment serving a wide variety of drinks and small dishes to enjoy in our space. We are looking for an Assistant General Manager that can lead a team dedicated to providing

Position Summary: The Assistant General Manager of TenGoku Aburiya will assist in directing and overseeing all Front of House and Back of House operations in accordance with our policies to ensure that the restaurant runs smoothly on a daily basis, best practices are in place to be successful, and acts as a leader to drive the culture and morale of the team.
 
Assistant General Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead the restaurant and team members to ensure exceptional guest experiences
- Oversee all front of house operations including guest relations, supervision of all front of house team members, restaurant ambiance, and quality assurance of all food and drinks
- Active management of private events.
- Responsible for holding pre-shift meetings with FOH and BOH team.
- Responsible for resolving complaints from guests, always making sure we follow up with them when needed.
- Accurately practice, execute, and enforce all team and policies with improvement to quality, service and operations and ensure employee compliance.
- Accomplish restaurant human resource objectives by recruiting, training, scheduling, coaching, communicating job expectations; monitoring, appraising; and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Exhibiting efficiency in completing job requirements through working with a sense of urgency, consolidating tasks, delegating and empowering others while managing their efforts.
- Participates in standardized policy training (HR, hygiene, health, safety, employee handbook, etc.)
- Adheres to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Ensures that the restaurant space looks, smells, and feels up to standard.
- Helps with duties of other employees (i.e server, food running, bussing, etc.) when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience in a restaurant environment.
- Experience with team management and team development
- Proficient is a variety of technology systems (i.e Micosoft Office, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
- Willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment.
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the restaurant.
- Ability to handle stress under pressure.
- Ability to move or handle equipment throughout the restaurant weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
