Shukette, led by Chef/Partner Ayesha Nurdjaja - a 2022 James Beard Award finalist - is looking for a Sous Chef

The exciting Chelsea restaurant Shukette has been heralded by The NY Times for its "extroverted, generous spirit" and an approach to Middle Eastern Cooking that is long "overdue in New York." Shukette has been recognized as one of the top new restaurants in the city.

We focus on responsibly and locally sourced ingredients with a nod to seasonality. Chef Ayesha Nurdjaja brings an exciting and dynamic take on some of her favorite dishes inspired by her extensive travels.

Shukette is part of The Bowery Group, responsible for neighborhood favorites Cookshop, Rosie’s, Shuka and Vic’s. The Bowery Group is proud to list accolades such as James Beard Nominee for Outstanding Restaurateur 2022, Best Chef Greater New York 2022, New York’s Top 10 New Restaurants of 2021 in the New York Times, as well as multiple write ups of our restaurants in various publications.

The Sous Chef is responsible for providing leadership in BOH Operations consistent with Restaurant strategy and the direction of the Executive Chef and Culinary Director. The Sous Chef must effectively control scheduling and labor costs, train and educate staff, maintain consistency of food quality and standards, manage ordering and inventory, and contribute to the maintenance of kitchen facilities and equipment.

This position requires daytime hours, evening hours and weekends with FULL TIME AVAILABILITY.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($70,000.00 - $80,000.00)
