Position Summary: An Artisan Bread Baker is responsible for creating high-quality, handcrafted bread products using traditional baking techniques. This role requires a deep understanding of ingredients, baking processes, and a passion for producing artisan bread.
Key Responsibilities:
Bread Production:
Quality Control:
Ensure bread meets the bakery's standards for taste, texture, and appearance.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace to uphold food safety regulations.
Equipment Use and Maintenance:
Operate ovens, mixers, and other baking equipment safely and efficiently.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report any issues to management.
Inventory and Ordering:
Manage inventory levels of baking supplies and ingredients.
Collaborate with suppliers to order ingredients and maintain stock.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other bakers and kitchen staff to coordinate production schedules.
Provide training and mentorship to junior staff as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in artisan bread baking or professional baking (preferred).
In-depth knowledge of bread-making techniques, including sourdough starter management and natural fermentation.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing consistent, high-quality products.
Ability to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical stamina to stand for long hours and lift heavy ingredients or trays.
Work Environment:
Fast-paced bakery or kitchen environment.
Exposure to heat from ovens and cold storage areas.
Education and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Formal training in baking or pastry arts (preferred).
Food safety certification (preferred).
