Jarabe- Mexican Street Food is hiring!

This is a Prep Position at our catering/prep facility in Lyons Illinois bordering Berwyn off the 55. This position involves preparation of Hot and Cold items.  

We are seeking Full and Part Time Prep Cooks.

Hours are primarily Monday-Friday 6AM-3PM with opportunities to earn additional income doing events on nights and weekends. 

+ Experience with Mexican food a plus
+ Must be hardworking team player
+ Spanish a plus

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ PUNCTUAL with regards to scheduling and attendance policy.
+ Adhere to food quality standards including consistency and preparation
+ Prepare food items in order to prescribed recipes
+ Safely and efficiently use knives, utensils, and other tools & equipment necessary to complete preparation of menu items
+ Observe and practice all safety and sanitation guidelines & procedures
+ Commit to long hours of work to complete tasks when necessary
+ Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles.
+ Measure and mix ingredients according to recipe to meals.
+ Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
+ Observe and test foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and taking temperature
+ Wash, peel, cut, and shred vegetables and fruits.
+ Prepare menu items with different preparation times to be completed at the same time

PHYSICAL DEMANDS + WORK ENVIRONMENT:
+ Perform calmly and effectively in a busy environment
+ Be able to stand and walk an entire shift
+ Communicate in English in order to comprehend, follow, & perform job requirements in written and spoken direction
+ Can work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
+ Exposure to extreme heat
+ The noise level can be loud
+ Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
