Milk Jawn is looking for an Ice Cream Maker to join our growing team at our South Philly production facility!
Milk Jawn is an award-winning small-batch ice cream company based in Philly. Our flavors are built from scratch and almost every ingredient that goes into our ice cream is handmade in our production kitchen. The employee in this position plays a key role in prepping and processing our ice cream.
Duties and responsibilities:

Prepare ice cream bases and produce ice cream according to the daily Production Schedule

Operate ice cream machine to manufacture ice cream

Assist with baking and the production of mix-ins, such as fudge, lemon curd, cookie dough, caramel, fruit compotes, cookies, brownies, etc.

Assist with making novelties, such as ice cream tacos and ice cream sandwiches

Follow recipe and production protocol precisely. Measure all ingredients as specified and prep ingredients for production.

Pint and package finished ice cream into containers cleanly and efficiently

Accurately inventory all produced materials

Properly label, date, pack, and store up to 1000 pints of ice cream each day

Quality check ingredients and finished product. Immediately report any deviations from standard.

Maintain a clean and organized workspace

Exercise excellent time management and ensure all duties are completed in a timely manner

Comply with all Food Safety standards and follow Good Manufacturing Practices while handling food products and equipment

Complete and file daily production logs
-
Always be on the lookout for ways to improve efficiency and prevent food waste
-
Perform repetitive tasks through entire shift while maintaining time management targets
-
Willingness to jump in and assist with other general tasks of all kinds as they arise
-
Complete daily cleaning tasks and periodic deep cleaning tasks
-
Perform other duties as assigned by leads and managers
Requirements:
-
Age 18+
-
At least 2 years of experience working in a professional kitchen specific to baking and/or pastry (prior ice cream-making experience is not necessary)

Passion for food, cooking, teamwork, and quality

High attention to detail
-
Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks
-
Ability to tolerate freezing temperatures for moderate periods of time
-
Knowledge of standard kitchen safety practices and procedures
-
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
-
A kind, hard-working, professional, team-oriented attitude

Great communication skills
Job Details and Benefits:
-
Starting pay is $16.50-$19/hour base pay (dependent on experience), plus additional $5-$6/hour average tips. This is based on tip average data collected at our shop in 2023. Our company utilizes a tip-pooling structure that benefits both the front and back-of-house.

Hours will be 40 per week with a consistent schedule.

Work days are Monday-Friday
