Onggi is an upscale casual Korean restaurant that will be located in the vibrant neighborhood of Dupont Circle in Washington, DC. Our 2,000-square-foot space will accommodate 60 seats, offering an intimate yet inviting dining experience. The restaurant is slated to open in January 2024.

Inspired by a desire to share the rich flavors and traditions of Korean cuisine, we aim to create a space where the local community and visitors from around the world can gather and enjoy authentic Korean dishes. We hope to offer an experience that captures the warmth and essence of traditional Korean food.

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced General Manager to lead our team, drive operational excellence, and uphold high standards of service. The GM will oversee all restaurant operations, ensure exceptional guest service, manage staff performance, and collaborate closely with our culinary and beverage teams.

Responsibilities will include:

- Manage daily restaurant operations to deliver smooth and efficient service.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and oversee a high-performing front-of-house and back-of-house team.
- Create a positive, team-oriented work environment to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures to maintain high service quality and consistency.
- Oversee budgeting and expense management to achieve financial objectives.
- Analyze sales trends, customer preferences, and market conditions to find growth opportunities.
- Direct inventory management, ordering processes, and vendor relationships.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food handling protocols, and sanitation standards.
- Collaborate with PR and marketing teams to coordinate promotions and events.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 3 years of restaurant management experience.
- Experience with opening a new restaurant is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A willingness to learn about Korean cuisine.
- Ability to adapt and problem-solve in a fast-paced and dynamic setting.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
